The 15th High-Level Monitoring Committee (HLMC) meeting of the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project was held at the National Agricultural Science Complex, New Delhi today.
Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) chaired the meeting. He stressed prioritizing research under NICRA, developing partnerships with other ministries/stakeholders for harnessing funding opportunities, and upscaling climate-resilient technologies.
He emphasized developing a methodology for assessing the resilience potential of the cluster of villages due to the adoption of different technologies. He accentuated on development of methodologies for carbon trading in Indian agriculture and the implementation of pilot projects on carbon farming.
Shri. Sanjay Garg, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) emphasized closing linkages with state governments for scaling of NICRA outputs.
Ms. Alka Arora, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Financial Advisor (ICAR) stressed that the infrastructure created under NICRA should be maintained properly for efficient use by researchers and students.

Shri. Franklin L. Khobung, Joint Secretary (NRM), MoAFW, Dr. T.R. Sharma, Deputy Director General (CS), Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agril. Edn.), Dr. B Venkateswarlu, Chairman, NICRA Expert Committee also graced the occasion.
The Deputy Director General and Senior officials from ICAR and various other ministries/departments provided key inputs for further strengthening the NICRA programme.

Presentations were made by Dr. M Prabhakar, PI-NICRA, and Dr. G. Pratibha, Program Leader, NICRA-TDC.
Major recommendations of the meeting are:
- Assessment of the impact of climate resilient technologies on carbon & water footprints;
- Development of a concrete plan/road map to reduce GHG emissions from the agriculture sector, particularly from rice cultivation and livestock sector;
- Digitization of NICRA outputs & outcomes and sharing with all the stakeholders;
- Development of methodology for assessing the resilience potential of the cluster of villages due to the adoption of different technologies.
