Stakeholder workshop on TEB AD Food Initiative in Uttarakhand was organized today at Pacific Hotel, Dehradun under the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TB) for Agriculture and Food program running in the Directorate of Extension Education of the University. The workshop was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan.
In the workshop, Director Extension Education and Project Officer TEEB Dr. J.P. Jaiswal said that this project has two watersheds, Kosi and Kailash, in which Kosi is in Nainital, Almora and Kailash is in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital district. A program is being run to promote organic farming and agro-forestry in the watershed areas. In-depth discussions were held on the benefits of organic farming and agro-forestry, soil fertility and environmental cleanliness in hilly and plain areas and the positive impact of food made from grains obtained from organic farming on people’s health and also on policy issues related to it was considered.
The workshop included Senior Policy Advisor TEEBAD Food India UNEP Dr. Alka Bhargava Project Officer TEED Agrid India Savin Gargan Consultant – TEED Agrid India Riya Malhotra Deputy Chairman of Prevention of Migration Commission, Government of Uttarakhand, Dr. S. S. Negi, ICAR. – Dr. M. Madhu, Director of Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun and Dr. A., Joint Agriculture Director of Uttarakhand. Of. Upadhyay, Additional Chief Force Conservator Shri Kapil Lal, Uttarakhand Government Project Director Watershed Neena Grirewal, Senior Forest Conservator Dr. Mohan Chandra along with scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, members of NGOs and FPOs were present. The program was conducted by Director Extension Education and Project Officer TEEB Dr. J. P. Jaiswal did it.
