The new sales counter of Vigor Soya Products of S. Bachittar Singh Garcha, a prominent agricultural entrepreneur from village Dehkalan in Sangrur district, was inaugurated at the Students’ Home of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana yesterday. This sales center was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal. On this occasion, Dr. Gosal highly appreciated the initiative taken by S. Bachittar Singh Garcha in the field of soybean processing. He said that S. Bachittar Singh Garcha has set a unique example for agricultural entrepreneurs by doing this unique initiative many years ago in a small village of Sangrur district. Dr. Gosal said that S. Garcha prepares his soya products in a scientific and pure way without adding any chemicals. Among the prominent personalities of PAU, Ludhiana on this inauguration ceremony were Director Research Dr. Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Comptroller Dr. Shammi Kapoor, Additional Director Research Dr. Gurjit Singh Mangat, Former Director Extension Education Dr. Sarjit Singh, Estate Officer Dr. Rishi Indira Singh Gill, Additional Director Communication Dr. Tejinder Singh Riar, Director Student Welfare Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Joint Director Student Welfare Dr. Kamaljit Singh Suri, Professor Extension Education Dr. Kuldeep Singh Pandhu, Dr. Vishal Bector, Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Dr. Vijay Kumar etc. were specially present. Giving more information about S. Garcha’s venture, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kheri Sangrur said that S. Garcha had started this unique venture in the year 2002 by taking training in soybean processing from the Central Institute of Engineering, Bhopal. Which he has taken to the heights today with the full support of his family. His son S. With the new thinking and initiative of Bhawandeep Singh Garcha and his daughter-in-law Bibi Karanvir Kaur, they have upgraded their soya plant and made it automatic last year. Along with this, they have also started this work by taking training in making ice cream and kulfi from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, Ludhiana. S. Garcha prepares very tasty and nutritious soya milk and soya tofu (plain and spicy) from soya beans. By making proper use of the waste material left over from this processing process, he makes various types of salty items like namkeen mathi, pakori, mati, sabzi wala pakora and sweet biscuits etc. He markets all these products under the brand name Vigor. In another initiative, he is also preparing dairy milk in three flavors (cardamom, strawberry and butter scotch). Many students of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and farmers from different districts often visit his soybean processing plant. He has been honored on many occasions by many agricultural institutes of the country, Punjab Government and District Administration. He is very closely associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur.
