The University Counselling and Placement Guidance Cell of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is all set to hold an “Employment Fair” on October 11, 2023 under the aegis of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare. This multifaceted event will have diverse activities aimed at providing suitable employment avenues for PAU students. Besides job interviews to be conducted by various organizations, the event will host panel discussions on issues such as enhancing employability of the students, workplace psychology for achieving success, and importance of self-employment.
Dr Khushdeep Dharni, Associate Director, University Counseling and Placement Guidance Cell, informed that the event will also include exhibitions by alumni of PAU who have undertaken self-employment and are successfully running their startups. Besides, prominent banks will exhibit their financial schemes for promoting business and self-reliance, he added. Students will not only benefit from having jobs in the employment fair but will also gain knowledge and motivation for taking up self-employment, he said.
Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, stated that the event is expected to get good response from industry as more than a dozen firms have already promised to offer about 100 jobs to PAU students during the event. He reiterated the commitment of Directorate of Students’ Welfare to transform the students into leaders that will shape the future landscape of agriculture.
