12 October 2023 A press conference of the 114th Kisan Fair was organized today at the Directorate of Extension Education in the University in which Director Extension Education, Dr. J.P. Jaiswal said that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, the 114th All India Farmers Fair and Agro Industry Exhibition is being organized from 13 to 16 October 2023. The main objective of this fair is to further increase the technical information developed by scientists along with agricultural diversification, so that farmers can increase their income by adopting those technologies in their farming. He said that in this fair, scientific trials/demonstrations of various Kharif crops developed by the University like paddy, maize, arhar, moong, urad, soybean and vegetables etc. will be shown and major Rabi crops like wheat, gram, peas etc. Certified and basic seeds of high yielding species of barley, lentils, rapeseed, mustard and vegetables will be available for sale. Besides, plants and seeds of vegetables, flowers, medicinal and medicinal plants, fruits etc. produced by various research centers will also be sold. Firms related to various agricultural inputs like manure, fertilizer, seeds, animal feed, veterinary medicine, chemical and biological products for pest and disease control, nursery products etc. will also display and sell their products. He told that self-help groups associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendra will set up stalls in the fair. A special exhibition on grains (coarse grains) is also being organized in collaboration with NABARD. Dr. Jaiswal told that the Kisan Fair was inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Uttarakhand. General Gurmeet Singh will do this at 2:00 pm and will also visit the exhibition organized in the fair. After this, His Excellency the Governor will address everyone in Gandhi Hall. About 450 stalls, big and small, have been set up in this farmers fair. He said that about 20-25 thousand farmers from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and various states of the country and neighboring countries are likely to come to this fair. He said that in the Kisan Fair, an exhibition of small agricultural equipment like tractor, power triller, power weeded, sub-soiler and irrigation equipment etc. will be organized for the farmers of hilly areas. Stalls of firms coming to the fair continue to be set up. Accommodation arrangements were made for the farmers in the fair. He said that farmers should cooperate in keeping the fair clean and polythene free.
