PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib conducted training on poultry farming from 16 to 20 September 2024 in which 25 women of village Salana participated. The training programme was conducted under Project “Nutrition security and economic empowerment of rural women through backyard poultry in Fatehgarh Sahib District” sponsored by NABARD.

Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal informed that such training programmes are very important for empowerment of women especially in rural area. He further told that the aim of the project is to provide nutrition security and economic empowerment to rural women. He congratulated the rural women on successful completion of the training programme. Dr. G P S Sethi, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) gave information about the breeds of poultry birds, housing management care of chicks, vaccination and feed of poultry birds, common diseases and their preventive measures. He also discussed in details about the marketing of birds and equipment required for rearing of birds. Dr. Manisha Bhatia Assistant Professor (Home Science) gave information about the nutritional importance of eggs and meat. She also gave detailed account on the various methods to include eggs and meat in the diet.
