Dr Kiran Bains, Professor of Food and Nutrition, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), presented a paper on ‘Lysine intakes and protein quality of Indian foods’ during International Symposium on “Dietary Protein for Human Health,” held at Utrecht, The Netherlands from September 14-16, 2023. The symposium, co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and Riddet Institute, New Zealand, was attended by more than 200 scientists from across the world to address the issues concerning amino acid requirements, world food amino acid supplies, and projected needs and evaluation of protein quality. This is particularly important, given projected world population growth and food protein demand to reach global food security.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, Dean, College of Community Science, and Dr Kiran Grover, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, congratulated the scientist and exhorted her to continue with her dedicated efforts to nurture the nutritional needs of the masses.
