Under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, organized a vocational training course on “Nursery Raising and Protected Cultivation of Vegetable Crops” from August 30 to September 5, 2024.
The training, held under the leadership of Dr Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) at KVK, provided participants with technical knowledge and practical demonstrations related to nursery-raising techniques and vegetable cultivation in protected environments.
Dr. Arti Verma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), led sessions on key topics, including the benefits of nursery raising, various nursery methods, site selection, land preparation, seed and soil treatment, and plant protection. Practical training covered nursery bed preparation, seed sowing, and advanced techniques like grafting, budding, and layering.
In concluding remarks, Dr Pardeep Kumar emphasized the importance of these vocational training courses in boosting farmers’ incomes through subsidiary occupations. He assured continued support for future initiatives.
