PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an awareness programme for the mobilization of college students of the Continental Group of Institutes, Fatehgarh Sahib on “Paddy Residue Management.” About 100 students participated in the programme.
Mr Tanvir Singh Gill, Administrative Incharge, Continental Group of Institutes, introduced the KVK team to the students and staff of their institute, and thanked the KVK team for organizing such programme.
Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, informed that various training programmes, awareness programmes and other extension activities were being organized by KVK, Fatehgarh Sahib for efficient management of crop residue for sustainable agriculture as a part of Crop Residue Management Project, sponsored by ICAR under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He also gave inputs on use of machinery such as Happy Seeder, Super Seeder and Smart Seeder for sowing of wheat in paddy residue fields.
Mrs Reet Verma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), gave technical information on insect- pest and rodent control in wheat.
Dr Amandeep Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), motivated the students to generate awareness in the villages about the ill effects of stubble burning and thanked Mrs Aman Ghuman, Director, Continental Group of Institutes, for their collaboration in conducting this programme.
