A successful one-day farmer training programme focused on direct-seeded rice (DSR) and improved agricultural practices was held today at KVK Fatehgarh Sahib in collaboration with the Center for International Projects Trust (CIPT).The event began with an introduction to the purpose of the training and the role of key communication and leadership among farmers, presented by Dr. V K Rampal, Associate Director (Training), along with the CIPT team.

Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), delivered a lecture on water conservation practices and technologies in paddy cultivation, followed by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), who emphasized the importance of identifying and managing nutrient deficiencies in Kharif crops during his lecture on soil health improvement.

Mrs. Reet Verma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), provided insights into integrated pest management in Kharif crops, while Dr. Amanpreet Singh also gave a lecture on weed management in DSR. A question-and-answer session with all speakers allowed farmers to clarify their doubts and gain further knowledge.

Dr. Ajay Kumar conducted a practical demonstration of direct-seeded rice techniques, followed by a group photo session. Participants then enjoyed lunch and networking opportunities.

The event concluded with feedback and closing remarks by Dr. V K Rampal and the Director of CIPT, highlighting the importance of adopting innovative agricultural practices for sustainable farming. The training was well-received by the participating farmers, who appreciated the valuable insights and practical demonstrations provided during the sessions.
