PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur in collaboration with Farm Advisory Service Center, Gangian, Hoshiarpur organized an awareness camp on paddy straw management on October 10, 2024 at School of Eminence, Dasuha.
At the beginning of the program, the principal Gurdayal Singh welcomed the visiting experts and appreciated the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra for conducting awareness campaign on handling paddy straw. He also assured the full support of the school students towards this campaign.
Addressing the students, Dr. Maninder Singh Bounce, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Science Centre, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur gave detailed information on various techniques for handling paddy stubble. – Explained in detail about the importance of different elements. Dr. Bounce also shed light on the use of paddy straw as animal feed, energy, mulch, fertilizer and mushroom production and cow dung gas plant. He also motivated the school students to participate in various competitions.
Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Senior Extension Scientist (Crop Science), Farm Advisory Service Centre, Hoshiarpur informed the students about paddy stubble management machinery. He also encouraged the school students to play an important role in this awareness campaign.
On this occasion, speeches, essay writing and painting competitions were also organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra to create awareness among the students about the harm caused by burning paddy stubble. An awareness rally was also held regarding the ill effects on health and humanity. Winners of various competitions were also honored to encourage the students.
Various competitions, District Extension Scientist (Fruit Science) from Farm Advisory Service Center, Dr. Indira Devi, Ms. Sunita, Program Assistant (Lab Technician) from Krishi Science Center and School Teachers, Ms. Shaminder Kaur, Lecturer (Punjabi), Ms. Charanpreet Kaur, Lecturer (Mathematics), Ms. Suman Ratan, Social Science Mistress, Ms. Geeta Rani , Science Mistress and Mr. Deepak Sharma, under the supervision of Social Science Master.
The program is conducted by the District Extension Scientist (Entomology) of Farm Advisory Service Center, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, and finally he thanked the Principal of School of Eminence Mr. Gurdayal Singh, all staff and students for successfully conducting the program.
