The PAU- Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Sangrur, under the guidance of the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, conducted an assessment of pea, wheat, and strawberry cultivation in the villages of Dittupur, Majhi, Bakhopir, Palasur, and Saron.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, District Extension Scientist (Soil Science) and in Charge of FASC Sangrur, reported no significant incidence of pink stem borer infestation in wheat crops that had received their first irrigation. However, minor instances of the pest were observed in localized patches and were effectively controlled using recommended insecticides and irrigation practices.

The pea crops were in excellent condition, with farmers adhering to recommended fertilizer applications and maintaining weed-free planting beds. Dr. Kumar also provided a hands-on demonstration of soil sampling techniques to enhance field management practices.

In Majhi village, strawberry fields showed slower crop growth, attributed to fluctuating temperatures. Farmers were advised to monitor their crops closely for signs of insect pest infestations and nutrient deficiencies to ensure optimal production.
