The meeting of the members of Punjab Young Farmers Association was held by Farm Advisory Service Center Faridkot on 08/11/2024. 51 members participated in this meeting with great interest. The main objective of the meeting was to revive the Punjab Young Farmers Association for active participation of young farmers in research experiments and field exhibitions so that they can reach out to other farmers of the district.

Dr. Fatehjit Singh Sekhon, Incharge, welcomed all the members and explained about the extension activities being carried out by the center. He discussed the role of PNKS members in adopting and disseminating new PAU technology and urged the members to purchase seeds of varieties of various crops recommended by the university.

Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Matharu, Deputy Director (Training) KVK, Faridkot, explained about the various activities and training courses conducted by KVK in the district. He explained the importance of seed modification in Rabi crops and appealed to farmers to stay in constant touch with agricultural experts through WhatsApp groups. He encouraged farmers to contact KVK scientists to take up various training courses.

Dr. Gurlal Singh, Animal Scientist, KVK, Faridkot informed the farmers about dairy, poultry, goat business and nutritional diet and explained their importance for animals in detail.

Dr. Pavitar Singh, Soil Scientist, KVK, shared information about the importance of soil testing, recommendations of various fertilizers for Rabi crops and the changes in fertilizers due to lack of DAP.

Dr. Karamjit Kaur, Home Scientist gave information on preparing nutritious dishes at home for the nutritional security of the family and gave information about various courses for housewives in KVK.

Dr. Gurdarshan Singh, Professor of Gardening, shared tips on growing vegetables in tunnels for preparing nutritious gardens and early vegetables.

Paramjit Singh Pravasi Bhartiya Awardee, Jagsir Singh and Zorawar Singh, Progressive Farmers shared their views with the farmers.

Dr. Fatehjit Singh Sekhon, Crop Scientist gave information on the cultivation of wheat and other Rabi crops. He advised the farmers to sow wheat through surface seeding method and told about the recommended fertilizers and herbicides. Finally, he thanked all the farmers and experts who came and requested the young farmer members to stay in touch with the experts of PAU in the future.
