Mr Kamalpreet Singh, a former M.Sc. Horticulture (Vegetable Science) student from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was recently honoured with the prestigious “Shri Jay Lal Singh Solanki Memorial Award for All India Best M.Sc. Thesis” by the Association of Plant Science Researchers (APSR), Dehradun. The award was presented at the National Conference on “Agriculture, Applied and Life Sciences: Plant, Human, and the Earth; Interconnectedness and Sustainability,” held at Kumaun University, Nainital, on November 8-9, 2024.

Mr. Singh completed his M.Sc. in February 2024 under Dr. Naveen Garg, Senior Olericulturist at PAU’s Regional Research Station, Bathinda. His award-winning research focused on “Line × Tester Analysis in Watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai. var. lanatus] Involving Round and Elliptical Fruited Genotypes,” contributing valuable insights to watermelon breeding.

PAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr S.S. Gosal, Director of Research, Dr A.S. Dhatt, Dean of Post-Graduate Studies, Dr M.I.S. Gill, Director of RRS Bathinda Dr K.S. Sekhon, Additional Director of Communication Dr T.S. Riar and Head of Vegetable Science Dr T.S. Dhillon congratulated Mr Kamalpreet Singh and his advisor, applauding this national recognition as a testament to PAU’s commitment to excellence in agricultural research and education.
