July 25, 2024. A meeting of the Dean and Directors of the University with the Chief General Manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Mr. Vinod Kumar Bisht and other officials of NABARD was held in the Vice Chancellor’s Auditorium of the University under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, the objective of which was to strengthen the academic and other activities and infrastructure of the university. First of all, the Vice Chancellor, while telling about the achievements of the university, said that till now about 52000 students have received degrees from the university and are contributing to various institutions in the country and abroad. So far, the university has developed 346 varieties of high production and quality of various crops and the university has trained about 5 lakh farmers on various methods of agriculture. He thanked NABARD for the assistance currently being received for various programs of the university and expected financial support for agritourism, precision farming and strengthening the infrastructure of the university. He said that there are very good possibilities of agritourism in the university and it can be a good source of income. Mr. Vinod Kumar Bisht told that NABARD supports not only agricultural universities but also many agriculture based programs. He told that important concepts like FPO, SHG and Kisan Credit Card are the contribution of NABARD. Through Krishi Vigyan Kendras, the income of Food Production Organizations (FPO) and Self Help Groups (SHG) can be increased through financial assistance. The main objective of NABARD is to strengthen agriculture and to provide assistance to various enterprises through the Uttarakhand Government at the minimum interest rate to increase their work. He told that NABARD is always ready to provide financial support to the university to bring innovation and new technology to the farmers and for women empowerment and skill development in them.
On this occasion, Director Research Dr. A.S. Nain, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr. S.P. Singh, Chief General Manager Dr. Jayant Singh, Director, Employment and Counseling Dr. M.S. Negi and other officers put forward their views for getting support from NABARD in various undertakings. On this occasion, Mr. Rajiv, the NABARD officer for Udham Singh Nagar district was also present.
