To make agriculture profitable and to motivate farmers to adopt ancillary businesses as well as to familiarize them with the proven techniques of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, a meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala on February 4, 2025.

It was chaired by Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Principal Agronomist attended as a special guest. Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur, Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Dr. Ashok Kumar from Farm Advisory Service Center, Patiala and Sangrur were also specially present in this meeting. Officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Forests, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Women and Child Development Department, Employment Department, progressive farmers and farmer women shared their views in this meeting.

The guests who came under the leadership of Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala, were taken on a tour of the technical park, demonstration plots and seed farm of the center. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Professor (Home Science) welcomed the guests. After this, Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi shared information about the training courses, field experiments and other extension activities conducted by the center with the audience.

Various scientists of KVK also shared the work done in their subject and the action plan regarding the trainings to be organized in the year 2025-26 and took suggestions from the guests who came. The chief guest of the meeting was Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar directed the agricultural scientists to disseminate the latest recommendations of the university for sustainable agriculture to the farmers. He also motivated the progressive farmers to visit their fields and make wise use of natural resources.

Dr. Jaswinder Singh encouraged the farmers and officials present to get more involved in the extension work being conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala. Dignitaries and farmers from various departments also participated in the discussion and presented their ideas for conducting training courses as per the requirement. Progressive farmers Kulwinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Narinder Singh, Parminder Singh, Randhir Singh, Ajaib Singh, Gurpreet Singh and enterprising women Harjit Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur and Bhupinder Kaur shared their experiences on beekeeping, crop production, vegetable cultivation, mushroom production, food processing and floral handicrafts. On this occasion, the entrepreneurial farmer men and women trained from Krishi Vigyan Kendra also exhibited their products. Finally, Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala thanked the experts, committee members, progressive farmers and women present in this meeting.
