Paddy is sown in Punjab  11.07.2024 with different methods i.e DSR, Manual transplanting and Mechanized transplanting. Among these DSR technique is area specific, so most of the farmers opt for transplanting paddy manually. But these days farmers have to pay high price to the migrated labour for this operation which increases the input cost of crop. Mechanized transplanting is a good option to get rid of it. In this regard KVK Kapurthala has created awareness about this technique by organizing village level camps, trainings, farmer scientist interactions. The basic requirement for mechanical translating is sowing of mat type nursery as transplanter are easily available now. Mat type nursery can be sown manually as well as mechanically. PAU has recommended mechanized mat type nursery seeder for sowing of Mat type nursery which can sow nursery of 150 acre in one day. A batch of 20 framers were trained for sowing of mat type nursery at KVK farm on 12.06.2024. Dr Harinder Singh, Associate Director (T) motivated the participants to opt for mechanized transplanting at their farms in coming years for timely sowing of crop and to minimize dependence on labour. Dr Bindu, Professor has given detailed information about semi automatic and fully automatic paddy transplanter available for transplanting of paddy. A method demonstration on mechanized transplanting of mat type nursery is organised at KVK on 11.07.2024 to aware the training participants about complete knowledge on this technique. Dr Mandeep Singh, Asst Prof (Agronomy) told about the importance of sowing short term paddy varieties for residue management. Paddy is sown in 6 acre with fully automatic transplanter at KVK Farm.
