ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organized a Kisan Mela under SC Sub-Plan today. The Kisan Mela programme was held at Chindanur Village, Chincholi Taluka, Kalaburagi District, Karnataka.
The Chief Guest, Dr V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, inaugurated a permanent display board at Chindanur village, followed by a drone demonstration aimed at controlling pod borers in pigeon pea crops. He then inaugurated the Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) and participated in planting fruit saplings at the fields of beneficiary farmers. Dr Singh also opened the exhibition stalls showcasing ICAR-CRIDA technologies. In his address to the farmers, he highlighted the various interventions made under the SCSP and emphasized the significance of rainfed technologies.
Subsequently, the director distributed biofertilizers, fruit saplings, zinc sulphate, and mineral mixtures to the beneficiaries.
About 200 farmers from the SCSP-adopted villages participated in the programme.
