ICAR-CIFE Mumbai organized the Interactive Meet (Hybrid mode) with All ICAR Fisheries Institute Scientists’ and an Online lecture by Dr. Arun K. Dhar, Professor & Fulbright fellow, Director, Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory, School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences, The University of Arizona, USA on the topic “Overview of shrimp diseases world wide” on 7th September, 2023. The event was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing both in-person attendance and virtual participation. The lecture and interactive session was designed to transcend boundaries, facilitating the sharing of valuable insights in aquatic animal health. The lecture was attended by over 60 scientists from Fisheries institutes of India. Dr. Arun K. Dhar is a distinguished Professor, Fulbright fellow and the Director of the Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory at The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. He holds the esteemed position of being a World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Expert in Crustacean Disease, with his laboratory serving as the OIE Reference Laboratory for Crustacean Diseases. Dr. Arun K. Dhar, Professor & Director, Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory, School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences, The University of Arizona, USA. His research journey centers on identify in pathogens and crafting diagnostic tools, vaccines, and therapies to combat viral and bacterial diseases in fish and crustaceans. The lecture evoked several relevant questions regarding disease advisory, disease reporting, and strategies of WOAH towards the sector. The interactive session provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange for addressing issues from the farmer’s perspective and to look above and beyond science.
