An Interaction meeting and input distributions programme was organized by ICAR-RCER, Patna in collaboration with ICAR-ATARI, Patna and KVK, Buxar under the collaborative project entitled “Development of zero hunger and zero technology gap village through innovative interventions” at Chotka Dhakaich Village, Simri, Buxar on 9th MAy, 2024. A team of scientists consisting of Dr Dhiraj Kumar Singh, Dr Jyoti Kumar and Dr Rohan Kumar Raman participated in discussion with farmers of the village for existing poultry production practices. Dr Jyoti Kumar, Veterinary scientist from institute gave suggestions for improved poultry production practices using poultry cages. On this occasion, five poultry cages were distributed to selected farmers for demonstration purpose along with 100 Vanraj Chicks to each which is a dual purpose poultry bird. Sufficient number of feeder, waterer and poultry feed was also provided for scientific production of the birds. Many women and landless laborer’s were also given 20-30 chicks for backyard poultry along with feed and other materials. Dr Dhiraj Kumar suggested farmers not to burn residues in the field to protect their soil. On this occasion, Mr Shekhar Kumar, Subdivision Agriculture Officer, Dumroun, Buxar and Dr Ramkewa, SMS, KVK, Buxar also interacted with farmers. Nearly, 40 farmers participated in this meeting and benefitted by inputs and suggestions given by scientists.
