A team from PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra,26.06.2024 Sangrur, under the guidelines of Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, visited direct sowing fields and paddy nurseries of Sangrur district. Team KVK, Sangrur inspected the paddy orchards in village Kular Khurd and Mahals and cleared the concerns of the farmers related to tall and low plants. They gave information to the farmers about the symptoms of micronutrient deficiency in paddy and its remedies. During the same visit, direct sowing paddy fields were also inspected at village Khetla and Divangarh Camper. Information about weed management and fertilizer management especially in direct sowing was shared with the farmers.

Dr. Rukinder Preet Singh asked the farmers to apply 130 kg urea in 3 equal installments at 4th, 6th and 9th week of sowing in direct seeded Parmal cumin fields. For weed management, he shared information regarding the use of medicines like Nomini Gold, Rice Star, Elmix etc. Dr. Sunil Kumar urged the direct seeding farmers to do seeding in succession and for this to prefer the use of Lucky Seed Drill. He said that with the use of this drill, herbicides are also sprayed and because of the wheels attached to this machine, a hard layer is formed in the direct seeded field. With which even the gill of the field does not fly quickly. Farmers expressed their satisfaction towards direct sowing and gave a positive response to increase the area under this technique.
