Inauguration Ceremony of Diploma Course DESI Pantnagar. 30 July 2024. The inauguration program of one-year Diploma Course-DESI (Diploma in Agricultural Services for Input Dealers) was organized by the Directorate of Extension Education of the University on 27 July 2024. Diploma Course TP Number-2731 will be jointly organized by Samiti – Uttarakhand and Manage Hyderabad. On this occasion, Director Extension Education Dr. Jitendra Kwatra, while highlighting the importance of the course, said that through this course, agricultural input distributors will be developed as para extension professionals. Under the one-year diploma course, these distributors will be made proficient in subjects like latest technology developed by the university, method of use of various weedicides and insecticides, identification and control of pests, organic pesticides, organic fertilizers, fertilizer control order, insecticide act, weather forecast, stress management. Dr. B.D. Singh, Nodal Officer, Samiti and Professor (Agronomy) through presentation gave detailed information about the introduction, objectives, implementation, course details and syllabus of the DESI course. He informed that a total of 42 agricultural investment distributors have registered for this course from Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Rampur, Pilibhit districts, who will be a part of this one-year course. He also informed that the institute has started four batches of DESI so far and trained 142 agricultural investment distributors. In the program, Mr. Manoj Arora, participant and silver medalist of DESI course organized by the institute last year, shared his experience about the agricultural techniques learned by the scientists, visits to various research centers and laboratories, etc. He especially appealed to the participants to attend and study attentively during the course. This program will have a very positive impact on their efficiency. During the program, two dissemination literatures namely DESI – Ek Parichay and Pant Prasar Sandesh (April-June, 2024) were released by the guests. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan congratulated the organizers for the successful organization of the course. Professor Dr. R.K. Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary, Dr. Nirmala Bhatt of the Directorate of Extension Education also gave their important suggestions in the inaugural program.
