ICAR – Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow (U.P) displayed the Institute’s technologies and development in the 3rd International Conference on ‘Sustainability and Challenges in Global Sugar Industries from 12th -14thJanuary, 2024 organized by Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) at Pune (MS). Dr. R. Viswanathan, the Director of the ICARIISR, Lucknow interacted with the professionals, scientists, teachers, farmers, sugar industries personnel, extension functionaries, delegates, and visitors from abroad and showcased the sugarcane production and protection technologies and developments viz.
, Red rot management in sugarcane, healthy seed cane nurseries, IISR combo insect trap, entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), biological control of insect-pests, ratoon management, improved technologies of sugar beet cultivation, mechanization in sugarcane, quality jaggery production and sugarcane-based byproducts etc. Dr. Yogesh Ekanathrao Thorat and Dr. Om Prakash represented the IISR exhibition stall at the International Conference. More than 1500 delegates and farmers visited the IISR exhibition stall and interacted regarding the new technologies to enhance cane production, productivity and sustainability. During the visit, the visitors expressed enthusiastic views about the institute’s research and development work.
