A five-day (14 to 18 October) training program on ‘Livelihood Generation through Value-Added Fisheries and Fisheries Products’ was organized under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan at Experimental Fisheries Project, Chhidapani of ICAR-Directorate of Cold Water Fisheries Research, Nainital, Uttarakhand. 30 trainees from Scheduled Castes from Champawat and Pithoragarh districts were included in this training.

This program was conducted under the guidance of Director, Dr. Pramod Kumar Pandey.

Senior Scientist, Headquarters, Dr. Renu Jethi, Officer-in-Charge of the Project, Dr. Kishore Kunal, Training Coordinator, Mrs. Garima; Deputy Commandant, V Corps, Sashastra Seema Bal, Champawat, Mr. Karan Chauhan, Senior Treasury Officer, Champawat, Mrs. Seema Bangwal and Fisheries Inspector, Mr. Karunkant were present in the closing ceremony.

During the training, farmers were trained to prepare fish products like fish-tikki, fish-cutlet, fish-kofta, fish-kebab, fish-momo, fish pickle, fish-ball, fish-finger, fish-soup etc.

Certificates and training manuals were distributed to the trainees on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the programme.

Experimental Fisheries Project Champawat provided dagonet, handnet, fish feed and red medicine etc. to the fish farmers of scheduled castes under input distribution.
