A 5-day training was organized on “Fish Health and Freshwater Pond Environment Management” during 11-15 September 2023by ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture at its Regional Research Centre, Rahara, West Bengal. During inauguration Dr. B.N. Paul, Scientist-in-Charge welcomed the participants. In his opening remarks he had highlighted the importance of fish health and environment managemental freshwater aquaculture for higher production. The training consisted of lectures, demonstration, and interaction sessions on various aspects of fish health and freshwater pond environment management. The farmers were provided practical exposure to water and soil quality estimation, fertilizer forecasting, diagnosis of common fish disease, assessment of fish health and preparation of medicated feed apart from conducting netting operation in ponds, wastewater facility, catfish culture facility, hatchery operation, farm-made feed formulation and operation of RAS unit. A training manual was released and distributed among the farmers. The participants were given certificates after successful completion of the programme. Dr. B.N. Paul and Dr. F. Hoque acted as the Course Director and the training program was coordinated by Dr. S. Adhikari, Dr. R. N. Mandal, and Mr A. Hussan.
