The 16th High-Level Monitoring Committee Meeting of the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture Project was organized today at NASC, New Delhi.
Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), while commending the progress of the NICRA project, emphasized the importance of prioritizing research on pulses, oilseeds, and horticultural crops. He also highlighted the need to assess the impact of extreme weather events and develop accurate emission factors for greenhouse gases in the agricultural sector.
Shri Sanjay Garg, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR); Ms Alka N. Arora, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Financial Advisor (ICAR); Shri Franklin L. Khobung, Joint Secretary (NRM), MoAFW; Dr B. Venkateshwarlu, Chairman, NICRA Expert Committee; Dr J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries); Dr S.N. Jha, Deputy Director General (Agril Engg.); Dr Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Science); and other senior officers from the Ministry of MoEF&CC, IMD, DST, DBT, Jal Shakti, and ICAR participated in the meeting and provided key inputs for further strengthening the technical program of the NICRA project.
Dr S.K. Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (NRM), briefed about the achievements of the NICRA project.
Dr Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (AAF & CC), presented the ATR on the previous HLMC.
Dr V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, presented the overview of NICRA.
Two publications, ‘Promising Climate Resilient Technologies for West Bengal and ‘Voluntary Carbon Market in Indian Agriculture: Status, Challenges, and way forward’ were released during the event.
