A group of 33 students of B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture VI semester along with two faculty members from Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh visited at ICAR-CISH Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 31st March, 2023 The role of soil nutrient and water management, precision farming protocols, abiotic stresses, insect and disease control measures, post harvest practices, value addition, other secondary horticulture and extension services based advisory for timely adoption of management strategies was discussed. To enhance farmers’ income, scientific initiatives of diversified fruit crops in non-traditional areas of subtropical region were discussed. During interaction, the importance of bael production with various bael cultivars was disseminated. Hindi literature on scientific bael production was distributed to the students for further diffusion. During field visits, rejuvenation of old orchards was shown. Successful vegetable cultivation in protected structures and open fields were also demonstrated. The importance of soil and tree health management along with water conservation was disseminated. Dr. Naresh Babu (Principal Scientist) and Dr. Tarun Adak (Senior Scientist) coordinated the field visit.
