ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized a field day-cum-farmer interface and input distribution programme under SCSP at Mulki, Karnataka, today.

During the programme the experts recommended the farmers to form a self-help-group of fishermen and farmers from the region to promote integrated farming (including agriculture, processing and livestock farming) and value addition.

The women farmers were also encouraged to take up poultry, duck and goat farming to increase their livelihood options and income sources. Further, HDPE barrels, and fish tanks were distributed to five farmers, including two women, who practice bivalve collection and farming in Mulki estuary.

A total of 10 fishermen/fish farmers participated in the programme.
