Title: Nutrient Management: A Key Element of Sustainable Agriculture Introduction

Status of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an initiative launched by the Government of India in February 2019 to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 per year in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each. The primary objective of the scheme is to enable farmers to meet their expenses related to agriculture and improve their livelihoods.

The scheme has been well-received by farmers, and the government has made efforts to ensure that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. As of August 2021, around 11.7 crore farmers have been enrolled under the scheme, and the government has disbursed over Rs. 1.15 lakh crore in the form of financial assistance. The scheme has been implemented in all states and union territories of the country.

However, there have been some concerns raised about the implementation of the scheme, such as delays in payments and exclusion of eligible farmers. The government has taken steps to address these issues, such as setting up a helpline number and a dedicated portal for farmers to check their eligibility and status. Additionally, the government has taken steps to ensure that the benefits of the scheme accrue to all eligible farmers, including those who do not have a bank account or Aadhaar card.

In addition to providing financial assistance to farmers, the government has launched other initiatives to support the agricultural sector, such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provides insurance cover to farmers against crop damage and losses.

Overall, the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been a significant step towards improving the livelihoods of farmers in India. The scheme has provided much-needed financial support to farmers, particularly small and marginal farmers, who are often the most vulnerable to economic shocks. While there have been some challenges in implementing the scheme, the government’s efforts to address these issues are commendable, and the scheme has the potential to bring about significant positive change in the lives of farmers across the country.
