Information about Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan) is an initiative launched by the Government of India in 2019 with the aim of providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme was launched with the objective of supplementing the financial needs of the farmers for ensuring the continuity of agricultural activities.

Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmers are provided with financial assistance of up to Rs. 6,000 per annum. This assistance is directly transferred to their bank accounts in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each.

To be eligible for the scheme, a farmer must have a valid Aadhaar card, a bank account, and a minimum landholding of one hectare. The scheme is applicable to all farmers, irrespective of their economic status, across the country.

The government has made several efforts to ensure that the scheme reaches the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries. As a part of these efforts, the government has launched several awareness campaigns to educate farmers about the scheme and its benefits.

Additionally, the scheme has undergone several modifications since its launch to ensure its effective implementation. For instance, in 2020, the government decided to extend the scheme to all farmers in the country, regardless of their landholding size.

Furthermore, the government has also made provisions to ensure that women farmers, who often lack access to credit and other forms of financial assistance, are included in the scheme. For this purpose, the government has introduced the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for Women Farmers, which provides additional financial assistance to women farmers.

Overall, the PM-Kisan scheme has been instrumental in providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme has helped to reduce the financial burden on farmers, thereby ensuring the continuity of agricultural activities and promoting rural development. With several modifications and improvements being made to the scheme, it is expected to benefit an even greater number of farmers in the years to come.
