Fertilizer and nutrient for better growth in Moong crop

Moong crop, also known as mung bean, is an important pulse crop grown throughout the world. It is a quick-growing crop that can be grown in a range of climatic conditions. To obtain better yields, proper nutrients and fertilizers are vital for the moong crop.

As moong crop is a legume, it has the capacity to fix atmospheric nitrogen with the help of Rhizobium bacteria found in their root nodules. This allows the crop to get a fixed source of nitrogen, which reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers in the field. However, other essential nutrients, such as phosphorus, potassium, and sulfur, must be provided to the crop as per its requirement.

For better growth of moong crop, the soil should have a pH of 6.5 to 7.5. The soil should be well-drained and should have sufficient organic matter content. Before sowing, it is recommended to add farmyard manure or compost to the soil. The standard dose of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium for moong is 20 kg/ha, 40 kg/ha, and 20 kg/ha, respectively. However, the required dose depends on the soil fertility level, crop requirement, and yield potential.

The application of micronutrients, such as zinc, iron, manganese, and copper, also contributes to better crop growth and yield. The micronutrients are needed in small quantities, and their deficiency may lead to poor crop growth, yield reduction, and quality deterioration. Foliar application of micronutrients can also be done to address any deficiency symptoms during the growing season.

In addition to proper nutrient management, proper irrigation and pest management measures also contribute to better crop growth and yield. With optimum inputs and proper management practices, a moong crop can provide better yields and become a profitable venture for farmers.

In conclusion, moong crop growth and yield can be enhanced through proper nutrient management practices such as providing adequate nutrients, essential micronutrients, and having a balanced pH level. This will not only serve to improve the crop’s overall growth, but will result in a more profitable harvest for farmers.
