ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Barrackpore organized the Certified Paddy Seed Distribution Programme today at Kultali, South 24 Parganas in association with Kultali Milon Tirtha Society for livelihood and technological improvement of SC women farmers of Sundarban. The programme aimed to make the small and marginal farmers of Sundarban self-reliant by enhancing their farm income by adopting modern farm technologies and scientific farming.

Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, emphasized the need for Sundarban farmers to be educated on scientific crop cultivation and value addition through jute diversified products, which will be provided by the institute.
About 500 participants attended the programme and 2.5 tons of certified paddy seed were distributed among the farmers.
