Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Punjab Agricultural University, Patiala By Director Extension Education, Punjab Stubble management under the guidelines of Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-Attari Zone-1. Under Project 2024-25, proper management of millet stubble at village Chalela (Bhadson) of block Nabha and Block level farmer awareness camp was organized regarding the cultivation of sugarcane crops. In which more than 60 farmers participated. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabikhi, Deputy Director (Education), K.V.K., Patiala, informed the farmers about the natural resources. Motivated for effective utilization and efficient management of crop residues. He advised to adopt the recommended technologies for the management of millet stubble. He has installed various machines like Happy Seeder, Smart Seeder, Surface for efficient management of millet stubble. Discussed in detail about seeder, mulcher, baler, seed drill etc. and K.V.K. He also threw light on the arrangements made for the seeds of sugarcane crops. Dr. Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) discussed about vegetables and fruits regarding food security during the camp. Explaining the importance, farmers were inspired to plant home gardens of vegetables and fruits. He also gave information about judicious use of stubble in horticulture crops. Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) advised farmers to use various methods in the field. Gave information about weeds and fertilizer management in wheat sown by taking care of stubble. He advised the farmers to plant improved varieties of wheat and wheat seeds certified by PAU. Also gave information about the bacterial vaccine. Those farmers will also be informed about the choice of nozzle for spraying herbicides and the correct spraying method. Das. He also gave information to the farmers regarding the cultivation of wheat as well as oil seed crops and pulses. Forward-looking farmer S. Avtar Singh shared his experiences on stubble management and surface seeder technology.
