World Environment Day was organized at Agricultural College, Adilabad on 05.06.2024. The programme started with welcoming of the Guest speaker, Associate Dean and Teaching staff on to the Dias by Dr. M. Suresh, Officer i/c of Students Affairs, Ag. College Adilabad. It was followed by brief about Environment and reason behind organizing World Environment Day. Signification of apart from theme of World Environment Day 2024 (“Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience” under the slogan “Our land – Our future) it also covered aspects on intervention in Environmental Pollution and ways to overcome these problems at individual level as well as community level. The Associate Dean, Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan addressed the gathering by his adorable speech on plastic pollution and its hazardous. The address also highlighted the global warming, climate changing and negative effects on Agriculture and allied sectors apart from the need of climate resilient Agricultural practices. It also focused on the need for environmental literacy, Sustainable Development, Sustainable Agriculture and Sustainable Livelihoods. It was allowed by guest lecture by Lingampalli Krishna, News Reporter and Wild Life Photographer on awareness on Environment with special focus on wild life Birds and Animals photographs through Power point presentation which depicted clearly about their Morphological characters, habits and habitats. It is also focused how wild life animals are at threat/extinction by human interventions in Environment with special reference to Forests, Water & Grass land ecosystems. Two students gave the feedback on the guest lecture and thanked wonderful opportunity to college authorities for arranging this. This programme was attended by Teaching staff Agricultural College, Dr. K. Bhanu Rekha, Professor (Agro.), Dr. Anitha, Associate Professor (Ento), Teaching Associates, Dr. Rathod Sunil Kumar, Mr. Rakesh, Mr. Kranthi and Sindhu of Agricultural College, Adilabad, apart from 50 of students and Non teaching staff were participated. The programme ended with vote of thanks presented by the Officer Incharge of Student Affairs, Dr. M. Suresh.
