7th May 2024, Hyderabad ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, organized a workshop on Rainwater Harvesting and its Efficient Use under mission Life (lifestyle for Environment). The workshop aimed to raise awareness about Rainwater Harvesting and its Efficient Use.
Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, highlighted the importance of rainwater harvesting and its utilization to achieve the objectives of mission Life initiated by the Govt of India.
Dr. Meenakshi Sundram, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad, highlighted different technologies developed for water management in paddy cultivation.
The workshop discussed rainwater harvesting in Odisha, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with panel discussions and presentations by experts. Success stories from Kadwanchi watershed in Jalna, ICAR-CRIDA’s farm pond technology, and ICAR-IIWM’s Rubber dam were discussed, focusing on crop production, economics, and water productivity. The discussions aimed to expand rainwater harvesting in other parts of the country.
About 380 participants attended the workshop.
