In the context of climate change, the Bihar government will lay emphasis on need-based augmentation of the current cropping pattern. Data will be collected from each district of the state regarding the adoption of agricultural methods suited to the current season and an independent action plan will be prepared for each district and its implementation will be done. These things were said by Mr. Kumar Sarvjeet, Honorable Agriculture Minister, Bihar on the occasion of inauguration of the newly constructed Directorate of Extension Education and Directorate of Seed and Field Directorate at Agriculture University, Sabour. The Honorable Agriculture Minister said that there is a need to reduce the coverage of paddy-wheat cropping pattern because due to climate change, due to lack of timely and adequate rainfall, farmers suffer a lot. The Agriculture Minister said that in order to promote the cultivation of millets in the state and for research on it, a center of excellence has been set up by the state government in Gaya district at a cost of 150 crores, which will benefit our farmer brothers. A Center of Excellence will also be set up by the Department of Agriculture for need-based research on land conservation. The Honorable Agriculture Minister said that the state government will provide all support to the University for the changes taking place in nature. The Agriculture Minister suggested Gave that the scientists of the university should create short video messages to solve the urgent problems of agriculture and allied sectors and broadcast them on all platforms of social media, so that the farmers of the state would be more benefitted.On this occasion, Dr. D. R. Singh, Vice-Chancellor The Agriculture Minister was welcomed and thanked by the Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. The Vice-Chancellor discussed in detail the activities and achievements of the university, including education, research and dissemination. which is a record.A student of the University has secured first position at the national level in a competitive examination for Ph.D. and a student’s thesis has received national honour. The Vice-Chancellor informed that two farming communities and four farmers of Bihar were selected for the awards to be given at the All India level by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) New Delhi, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, in collaboration with the University. Is. Katrani Paddy Producer Association and Litchi Producer Association have been selected for Best Plant Genome Guardian Farmer Community Award and Mr. Arjun Mandal of Jamui for medicinal plants, Mr. Dilip Kumar Singh of Rohtas for Best Plant Genome Guardian Farmer.
Mr. Arjun Singh of Rohtas has been selected for Tomato, bottle gourd and paddy and Mr. Satyadev Singh of Munger has been selected for the award for Masoor, Teesi and Chana, along with the national award has been given to the community radio station.
While giving a welcome speech on this occasion, Director Extension Education discussed in detail the achievements of the extension and training of the university and told that the implementation of the Fourth Bihar Agriculture Road Map will give a new dimension to the agricultural development in the state along with the schemes established by the state government in each block. Linking the e-Kisan Bhawan with the information communication revolution, it will be taken to every household of the farmers.
On this occasion, the logo of “Nature Club” was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Agriculture Minister for the purpose of preserving biodiversity, as well as work was done in the premises of the newly constructed building.
