ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture observed Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2024 from 28th October to 1st November 2024. Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA administered the ‘Integrity pledge’ among the staff of the Institute including Regional Centres. All the family members of the employee, stakeholders & collaborators were sensitized to take ‘Integrity pledge’ for the citizen on the website of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for their commitment to the nation on corruption free India.
On 29th October, as a part of school programmes essay and elocution competitions were held at Kendriya Vidhyalaya Island Grounds School organized by Dr. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist and Shri. Aswin Haridas, Administrative Officer on the topics “The Role of Youth in Building a Corruption Free India” and “The Cost of Silence: How Apathy Toward Corruption Fuels Injustice” respectively and prizes were distributed at the end of the event. In addition, a Poster making competition for the children of CIBA employees (up to age of 15) focused on the topic of “My Vision of Corruption Free India” was also held.
On 30th October, Elocution competition was organized on the topics “Integrity and Transparency: Pillars of Democracy” and “How corruption undermines democracy” wherein, participants participated in event. Quiz competition was also conducted covering the issues related to corruption and its broader societal impact in which 23 participants took part.
The concluding session on VAW was organized on 1st November, 2024 wherein the staff from Headquarters and Regional Centres participated. Dr. C.V. Sairam, Vigilance Officer of the Institute welcomed the gathering and gave a brief on the importance of preventive vigilance. A video on Public Interest Disclosure and Protection Informers (PIDPI) was played during the meeting. Shri. Aswin Haridas, Administrative Officer of the Institute gave an overall report about the activities organized during the VAW and also spoke on the necessity and importance of PIDPI. Shri. Navin Kumar Jha, Chief Administrative Officer addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of vigilance in combating corruption. Dr.Swaminathan, IPS Superintendent of Police, Southern Region, Vigilance and Anticorruption Department of Govt. of Tamil Nadu participated as the Chief Guest. He spoke about India’s corruption index, highlighting the country’s current ranking and outlining strategies for improvement, including key actions to reduce corruption. Dr. K. Ambasankar, Head of NGBD in his presidential address emphasized the need for commitment of individuals and their responsibilities to the organization. During the meeting prizes and certificate were distributed to the winners of the competitions. The meeting was compered by Ms. Sambhavi.J, Assistant and was ended with vote of thanks by Shri. Kushal Mukherjee, Assistant of the Institute.
