PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib in collaboration with Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR, Attari Zone-1 on 26.09.2024 Conservation of Paddy Stubble at Village Hallotali – Care awareness camp was organized. About 70 farmers participated in this program. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, gave information about stubble management and encouraged the farmers for efficient management of crop residues for efficient use of natural resources and environmental protection for agriculture. He advised to adopt technologies recommended by Punjab Agricultural University for paddy straw management. He shared detailed information about various machines like Happy Seeder, Smart Seeder, Surface Seeder, Super Seeder etc. for efficient management of paddy straw. He also made the farmers aware of various points and precautions while cultivating the wheat crop to be sown with different machines. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) enlightened the farmers on the importance of paddy stubble management and the damage caused to the soil and environment by burning the stubble. Dr. Reet Verma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) gave detailed information on protecting crops from insect and disease attacks. Dr. GPS Sethi, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) suggested using paddy straw as cattle feed. At the end, the village farmers thanked the entire team of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and gave them confidence to contribute to this campaign for the preservation of the environment.
