A three-day (24 to 26 September) farmer training program on the subject of advanced cultivation of Sri Ann was organized at the experimental field, Hawalbagh of ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora.

The training program was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, Lakhisarai (Bihar) keeping in mind the financial year 2024-25 of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA). 30 farmers and officials of ATMA project from Lakhisarai district of Bihar state participated. During the program, farmers were trained about various aspects related to the nutrition and production of millets / Sri Ann, such as advanced production technology, importance in nutrition security, value-added products and post-harvest management etc. Along with Sri Ann crops, farmers were also told about advanced vegetable production and other advanced technologies of the institute for increasing income.

On the concluding day of this training program, the Director of the Institute, Dr. Laxmi Kant addressed the farmers. He told about the importance of Sri Anan crops in nutritional security and their role in the era of climate change. The Director emphasized on the farmers to adopt advanced techniques in farming to meet the increasing demand of these crops.

Along with this, on the concluding day, the Chairman of the Crop Improvement Department, Dr. N.K. Hedau and the Chairman of the Crop Production Department, Dr. B.M. Pandey also addressed the farmers.

At the end of the program, the Director distributed certificates and improved seeds to the trainees.
