PAU Vice Chancellor Dr. in a simple but effective ceremony. Satbir Singh Ghoshal launched a booklet on coarse grains. This booklet is an attempt to understand coarse grains as a unique gift of nature as the food of the future from farm to table. Important information is presented in this booklet about the nutritional value of coarse grains as per future market requirements.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Speaking on the occasion, Satbir Singh Gosal said that the importance of coarse grains has increased in terms of health and environment. Information about nutrients in food has become part of common people’s behavior. In this regard, the need for an important information document about coarse grains was felt. Dr. Ghosal hoped that this booklet would serve to make the common people of Punjab and neighboring states aware of the consumption of coarse grains and their health effects.

The booklet provides a bird’s eye view of the cultivation of coarse grains in Punjab and also provides important information on the current outlook and future planning of coarse grains in the state’s agricultural landscape. Many important information about the work done by the National Food Security Mission and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in this direction are also recorded in this booklet. It has also presented facts regarding farmers, farmer producer organizations, traders, importers and marketing of coarse grains. Along with this, there has been a thorough discussion about the importance of different varieties and the possibilities of cultivation in the crop circles of Punjab.

PAU Director of Business Studies School Dr. Ramandeep Singh called the booklet a very detailed information and guidance document. He said that its aim is to prepare the farmers according to their needs by providing them with the necessary information.

Dr. Breeder of Plant Breeding and Genetics Department. Dr. Ruchika Bharadwaj, Business Guru. Alisha Kaur, researcher at Maria Afzal, School of Business Studies, played an important role in the preparation of this document. The special thing is that along with technical information, it also contains rich information for the people in the field of cultivation, processing, marketing and business of coarse grains.

Also, by providing trainings provided by government and corporate societies, marketing policies for farmers, etc., this booklet serves to bring various parties on one platform.
