The 78th Independence Day celebrations were organized at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun. Dr. Charan Singh, Acting Director of the Institute, hoisted the flag and in his address on the occasion said
“Today is a day of pride, excitement and joy for us. Our country has faced many difficulties in the fight for freedom and today we are living in independent India.”
Dr. Singh further said: “We must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and work to fulfill their dreams. We must work to make our country even stronger and more prosperous.”
On this occasion, Dr. Singh stressed on the adoption by all of the five points of democratic systems and democratic behavior for the development of the country. He said: For success we have to adopt the following points:
- To follow the Constitution and laws.
- Using voting and being politically aware.
- Respecting diversity and differences.
- To discharge social and political responsibilities.
- Adherence to ethics and integrity.
By adopting these values we can build a strong and developed democracy. Let us resolve to make our country even stronger and prosperous.
On this occasion, various categories of employees of the institute including Dr Rajesh Kaushal, Dr Gaurav Singh, Dr Abhimanyu Jhajharia, Mr. Suresh Kumar, Er. Amit Chauhan, Mr. Harvirendra Singh Bhatia, Mr. Anil Chauhan, Mr. Santosh Kumar, Mr. Manas Aswal, Mr. Vikram Singh, Mrs. Lata, Mrs. Ekta Rawat, Smt. Santoshi Rauthan etc. were honored for their excellent contribution towards the progress of the institute. Quiz competition winners were also rewarded.
The employees and family members of the institute participated on this occasion and celebrated this festival of Independence Day with pride.
