Quinquennial Review of Research on Integrated Farming Systems, Organic and Natural farming undertaken through AICRP-IFS and AINP-OF of ICAR-IIFSR was held at ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram during 7-8 June 2024. Dr Arvind Kumar, Former VC, RLBCAU, Dr A.K. Singh, Former VC, BAU and Dr NP Singh, Member, CACP reviewed the activities. Dr G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI in his inaugural address explained achievements of CTCRI and many technologies are commercialized. He also elaborated the role and potential of tuber crops in farming systems. Review undertaken for Kerala and Gujarat revealed that 4 IFS and 2 IOFS models developed for Kerala and 3 IFS and 1 IOFS model developed for Gujarat are having potential for doubling farmers income and ensuring sustainable agriculture. Other achievements include scaling of IFS models by Government of Kerala in more than 37000 farmers field in 14 districts. Organic farming packages developed for Kerala and Gujarat have been shared with respective states for scaling. Dr Sunil Kumar, Director, ICAR-IIFSR, Dr N. Ravisankar, PC-IFS, Dr Raghavendra Singh, Head, Dr Jacob John, Director (Extension Education) and Chief Agronomist, KAU, Dr G. Suja, PI, AINP-OF and other centers from Kerala and Gujarat attended the meeting. It was recommended by committee that output from the project are excellent particularly with reference to scaling of technologies and adoption by farmers in Kerala. Committee recommended for carbon credit valuation and extending it’s monetary benefits to farmers.
