PAU students conducted an awareness camp under Rawa with the objective of diversifying the existing wheat-paddy crop rotation for cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers and agroforestry crops besides crop residue management. In this camp, awareness was spread about proper management of stubble and importance of horticulture in agricultural diversification. This camp was organized by the students of College of Horticulture and Forestry of Punjab Agricultural University at the playground of village Jhande of district Ludhiana. Dr. MIS Gill, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry was the chief guest of the event.

Dr. Gill enlightened the farmers who arrived at the camp about the importance of horticulture in diversification and environmental improvement. He advised farmers not to set the stubble on fire and explained the benefits of paddy straw for use as mulch around fruit plants. Rave’s coordinator Dr. Jaswinder Brar explained in detail about the expansion activities being done at PAU. He helped the students to understand the practical knowledge of agriculture from the farmers and through the participation of the students, P. A. U. Rave explained in detail the importance of the program to the students to bring the extension activities to the farmers.

Dr. Amit Kaul P.A.U. Information about cultivation methods of wheat varieties recommended by, recommended sowing techniques and machinery like Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, Smart Seeder.

Dr. Lovelysh Garg elaborated on Dhingri mushroom cultivation which is a good source of income. Dr. Garg explained the method of production and cost ratio of these mushrooms. Apart from this, he made the zamindars P.A. Motivated to do training courses on various subjects at Skill Development Center of U.

Dr. Dilpreet Singh elaborated on vegetable production techniques and appropriate utilization of resources.

Dupinder Kaur, a student of Government Middle School Jhande, presented a very sensitive poem about the consequences of continuous deforestation. Amanjot Kaur, B.Sc. The horticulture student gave detailed information about the occupation of fish farming in diversity. After this, the prize distribution ceremony was held to the winners of the poster making competition. During the end of the camp, Dr. Dilpreet Singh thanked the gentlemen and agricultural experts who arrived at the camp. A rally was also taken out by the students to raise their voice against social injustices.
