In a dedicated effort to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility, the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), jointly organized a cleanliness drive in the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. This event was a part of the ongoing “Swachhata hi Seva” campaign. As many as 100 students from both the departments came together with enthusiasm to make a difference. Besides cleaning laboratories and corridors, they meticulously collected waste and plastic litter from the college lawns.
During the event, Dr Manjeet Kaur Sangha, Head, Departments of Biochemistry and Chemistry, underscored the significance of maintaining a clean environment. She also highlighted how plastic pollution affected not only humans but also endangered other species on our planet.
Adding an educational dimension to the event, Ph.D students Ms Komal Singh and Ms Sukhman delivered informative talks. They discussed the detrimental effects of environmental pollution caused by plastics and outlined various steps to mitigate this issue.
Ms Mehak Aggarwal, while proposing a vote of thanks, said that his initiative embodied the spirit of Swachhata hi Seva, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to protect our environment and make our earth cleaner and more sustainable for all.
