Information about Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is an initiative rolled out by the Government of India to provide support and financial assistance to farmers across the country. The scheme was launched on 24th February 2019 by the then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal as part of the Interim Budget 2019. The primary objective of PM-KISAN is to ensure secure income for farmers and reduce their dependence on loans and other sources of finance to meet their agricultural needs.

Under this scheme, a farmer with a maximum of 2 hectares of cultivable land is eligible to receive monetary benefits of INR 6,000/- annually in three equal instalments of INR 2,000 each. The first instalment is paid between April and July, the second instalment between August and November, and the third instalment from December to March. Farmers registered under PM-KISAN can receive the benefits directly into their bank account through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

The scheme aims to cover nearly 12 crore small and marginal farmers, and has so far disbursed funds to over 11.5 crore beneficiaries. This scheme is also expected to boost agricultural productivity and improve the socio-economic status of farmers, especially small and marginal ones.

To avail the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers are required to register themselves with the PM-KISAN portal at pmkisan.gov.in. Once the registration process is completed successfully, the farmer’s name will be entered into the beneficiary list and he/she will be eligible for the benefits under the scheme.

The government of India has set aside a budget of INR 75,000 crore for the PM-KISAN scheme for the financial year 2021-22. The scheme has received a lot of positive responses from farmers across the country, who believe it is helping them meet their agricultural needs and providing them with secure income in a tough environment.

In conclusion, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an essential scheme for farmers in India. Its aim is to provide financial assistance and security to the country’s agri sector, especially small and marginal farmers. Farmers should take advantage of this opportunity and enrol themselves in the scheme to avail the benefits.
