ABOUT CENTRAL UNIVERSITY LABORATORY
Central University Laboratory is a unit under the Centre for Animal Health Studies, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, started in the year 1993. This laboratory is unique in the country in the diagnosis and control of livestock and poultry diseases as these are done with various disciplines like microbiology, pathology, and parasitology under one umbrella. Central University Laboratory is offering molecular-based diagnostic services for various bacterial and viral diseases of livestock, poultry, wild animals, and pet animals. Central University laboratory is well equipped with all necessary and latest instruments and has an ISO class 8 and 7 clean room facility for handling cell culture and viral antigen production. Apart from diagnostic services, the central university laboratory has handled several externally funded projects; developed and commercialized diagnostics and vaccines. The faculty in Central University Laboratory have wider experience in molecular diagnostic
platforms.

1. Sample collection, fixation, grossing and trimming of tissues
2. Post-fixation processing
3. Embedding, blocking and section cutting
4. Staining of tissue sections
5. Advances in tissue processing techniques
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
The main objective of this workshop is to give hands-on experience
and enrich the knowledge of the participants on conventional tissue
processing technique, staining and preparation of tissue sections for
light microscopy
