The 116th All India Farmers Fair and Agro Industry Exhibition of the University was inaugurated today by cutting the ribbon by the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, who was present as the chief guest. In the inaugural session, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan; Special Guest Deputy Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi Dr. Udham Singh Gautam, Kichha MLA Shri Tilak Raj Bahed, Rudrapur MLA and Member of University Management Council Shri Shiv Arora, former Kichha MLA and Member of University Management Council Shri Rajesh Shukla and Chairman Agricultural Marketing Industry Shri Anil Kumar Dabbu were present. After the inauguration of the fair, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan made the Chief Minister visit the garden exhibition set up in the fair and the stalls of various exhibitions set up by the university. The main inaugural ceremony was organized in the Gandhi Hall Auditorium, which was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan. The chief guest said in his address that the university is progressing in research and extension due to the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan. He said that the university has its own place as the mother of Green Revolution. He told that the students who have done research in the university are flying the flag of the university not only in the country but also abroad. The area of ​​​​the university’s alumni has also increased considerably. He said that for the progress of farmers, the university organizes Kisan Mela twice a year and through Kisan Mela, farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs meet at one place, which increases our perspective and we get things related to agriculture. I am happy that many stalls are set up in Kisan Mela, which is known as Krishi Kumbh. We need to emphasize on innovation, which will help in realizing the dream of the Honorable Prime Minister of a developed India by 2047. He also told about the Prime Minister’s commitment towards farmers because on becoming the Prime Minister for the third time, Shri Narendra Modi ji was the first to sign the paperwork of Kisan Samman Nidhi. More than 8 lakh farmers of Uttarakhand are benefiting from Samman Nidhi. Loans up to Rs 3 lakh are being made available to the farmers of Uttarakhand without guarantee and there is 80 percent subsidy on agricultural equipment. Irrigation from the canal is now free. Emphasis is being laid on developing tea gardens through organic farming and 6 aroma valleys are being developed. He said that there is a lot of potential for producing good vegetables and good flowers in polyhouse and we are close to Delhi, so these products will get a good price. In the context of climate change, he appealed for climate smart agriculture and also emphasized on continuous training. Harela Garden was also inaugurated by the chief guest through virtual medium in the program. Dr. Udham Singh Gautam said that in view of the challenges of climate change and increasing population in the country, the Prime Minister has to have a developed India by 2047, for which the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has started working on teaching, research and extension. He said that various new research and new technologies are available for farmers in this fair so that farmers can become entrepreneurs by adopting these technologies. He said that our country will develop only if all farmers become entrepreneurs in 2047.
