Preamble
Today Agricultural Extension is at its cross age where the paradigm of its application shifts towards innovative application of decision, tools, methods and approaches. Agricultural Extension requires continuous renewal of its content, methods and approaches. So, we have to think not only in present context but also for the future to make the discipline more competitive and fruitful. We have to consider the expanding demand of information and diverse extension support for the changing situation to deal with the challenges. Development must be holistic in nature; not only crop production but also the wellbeing of the farmers must be look after. Keeping this view of holistic role of extension in rapidly changing scenario of agricultural development, a National Seminar on “Innovative Agricultural Extension Approaches for Holistic Development of Farming Community” is planned to provide a right forum to every professionals of the discipline as well as the farmers, policy makers and administrators to share their experiences and expertise, to support the extension professionals as well as the farming community of the country.
The Society of Extension Education, Gujarat
The Society of Extension Education, Gujarat was established in 1990 with a vision to strengthen the research in extension education and its application for the development of the farming community. The head office of the society is at Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The society has 1476 life members at present. The society played significant role in providing forum for exchanging of ideas, encouraging research, and disseminating knowledge of extension to the end users. The society regularly organizes seminars, symposiums, and conferences at national and international level on contemporary topics. The society publishes a biannual journal, ‘Gujarat Journal of Extension Education’ which has a NAAS rating of 4.96 with ISSN no. 2322-0678. The society has brought out several seminar souvenirs and recommendations. The society also provides different awards to the extension scientists, farmers and students to inspire them to develop agriculture through extension.
