The Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, a transformative
initiative aimed at ensuring holistic agricultural development, improving farmers’ income, and
promoting sustainable and resilient farming systems. As part of the event, around 150 farmers
from Rangareddy, Bhongir, and Mahabubnagar districts of Telangana visited ICAR–IIRR and
actively participated in the proceedings. The live telecast of the national-level launch was
attended by esteemed farmers, scientists, staff, at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research
(IIRR), Hyderabad.
During his address, the Hon’ble Prime Minister emphasized the importance of effectively
utilizing all agricultural schemes and programs to maximize benefits for the farming
community. He urged farmers, researchers, and extension agencies to work in convergence for
the successful implementation of various government initiatives that collectively contribute to
agricultural growth and national food security.
The program showcased various flagship schemes, farmer-oriented projects, and technological
interventions designed to enhance productivity, ensure resource-use efficiency, and strengthen
the agricultural value chain. Scientists and staff from ICAR–IIRR actively participated in the
virtual event, aligning the institute’s research priorities with the goals outlined under the PM
Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana.
A Farmer–Scientist Interaction Session was organized, providing an open platform for farmers
to express their queries and seek technical clarifications on various aspects of rice production
and management.
Dr. Ch. Padmavathi, Dr. Amtul Waris, Dr. R. M. Kumar, Dr. Jyoti Badri, and Dr. Kanneboina
Shruthi interacted actively with the visiting farmers, addressing questions related to newly
released rice varieties, production technologies, pest and disease management strategies, and
sustainable cultivation practices developed at ICAR–IIRR, Hyderabad.
Additionally Drs Brajendra and Manasa demonstrated the soil health kit to the farmers for
assessing the soil fertility of the fields.
The event served as a meaningful interface between scientists and farmers, reinforcing the
institute’s role in translating research outcomes into field-level applications and contributing towards achieving the objectives of national agricultural development under the PM Dhan
Dhanya Krishi Yojana.
