National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) is a flagship scheme launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in September 2019 for the control of Foot and Mouth Disease and other important animal diseases. FMD control is envisaged by vaccinating 100% cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and pig-eligible populations in the entire country following a planned schedule. Under this program, for the quality control testing of the FMD vaccine to be used for the vaccination, our institute has joined hands with ICAR-IVRI and CCS National Institute of Animal Health, Baghpat. Under QC testing of FMD vaccine batches the safety, sterility, purity, and potency tests are being conducted as per the standard operative procedure laid down by DAHD. Results thereof are being communicated to DAHD, thereby aiding in take a critical decision for vaccine procurement and field use.
